Artist Statement: I am a Chicago raised student with a passion for discovering my most transformative style of art as a form of self expression and soothing. Mainly, I love to combine poetry with illustration, with a focus on mental health advocacy, along with a “Cozycore’ aesthetic. This ranges from prints, editorial pieces, collaging, stickers, and more. Recently, I published my first book- in my room, which is an anthology and memoir on childhood trauma. From this project, I came to the realization that I want to continue to make art that warms others and create connections in the art community based on mutual friendship and support; something that I have always searched for in life. At Columbia, I found that second safe house as I now get the opportunity to make art with others being on the Illustration Student Group’s EBoard, by being a present student, and showing up as an artist on campus and most importantly, at my core self.
