Artist Statement:
Valentina is a Mexican multidisciplinary artist with training in areas from visual arts to performance, dance, and theater. She is currently majoring in dance and theater at Columbia, with 4 additional years of visual arts studies in México and the Netherlands.
My art is strongly inspired by realism on animals and women's portraits, mixing various techniques from oil to watercolors. Nature is a strong part of what I like to portray in my work. This collection portrays women’s beauty by putting it together with nature. Each flower and color represents each of the women, their personalities, and their essence. The flowers were carefully chosen and pressed to combine delicately with the portraits. I wish to grow as a multidisciplinary artist and be recognized for my work. Even though I’m a dancer, I wish to have an impact with my visual arts too.
