MEET THE ARTIST
Hi! My name is Michela Hein and I am a photographer and student at Columbia College Chicago! I grew up in a small town, so the most exciting thing to me is the architecture in the city. I have a passion for architecture photography and love being able to capture different styles of it. I have an ongoing project where I photograph different styles of architecture in Chicago! In the future I am hoping to continue to expand this work to other cities such as Detroit and New York!
What work do you currently have at ShopColumbia?
I currently have a few photos from my Chicago Architecture Project for sale at Shop Columbia! Each one represents a style of architecture that can be seen throughout Chicago's Skyline.
What inspired you to create this series of work?
I love architecture and how many unique styles there are. It was one of the many reasons why I decided to move to Chicago and attend Columbia. Being able to capture it in photos has been really cool!
In what ways do you think you have benefited from being a ShopColumbia artist?
As an artist, it has been beneficial for me to have my prints at ShopColumbia because it shows me what is possible! There are people who like my work enough to purchase it and hopefully hang it up in their homes! It has also been super fun to be able to go into the store and see my work for sale in an actual store!
Give us an update about recent project/artistic life events; what’s next for you?
I am starting my senior year at Columbia in the fall, and I am so excited! I have been trying new styles of photography that I haven't done before. The latest style I have been dabbling in is commercial photography and I have really been enjoying it!
