Artist Statement: Jae Vex’Zhalia is a Mexican Chicago-based Animator and Illustrator focused on creating immersive worlds through character design and animation. They are currently pursuing a BA in Traditional Animation with a minor in Illustration at Columbia College Chicago. She has a deep love for action and fantasy-based series which inspires most of their creations.
Through their art, Jae aims to craft fashionable designs that reflect the character's personality and the story being told. With a strong foundation in animation, they have gained a deep understanding of the animation pipeline and story development. In collaborative animated projects, Jae has been honing their skills in drafting stories, cleaning up animations, 2D rigging, and compositing to bring visual stories to life.
