How-To Enjoy Holiday Traditions From Your Couch
When the weather starts to get cold and it feels like nighttime at 4pm... there is nothing better than curling up on the couch in your "comfy clothes" and watching your favorite holiday show! This is one holiday tradition that you don't have to switch up this year...unless you want to discover a new holiday classic.
We reached out to ShopColumbia artists to ask what their favorite holiday shows are. The #1 movie from Shop artists was Nightmare Before Christmas recommended by both David Knight and Isabella Aimone. The second top favorite movie is a Chicago classic: Home Alone recommended by both Osa and Konoco.
Other artist favorites include:Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer recommended by Guinevere of Bad Egg, The Polar Express favorited by Lizzie Monsreal, and Scott Dickens (All4Pun) recommended any South Park Christmas Special. And Paper Heart Dispatch couldn't decided on just one holiday favorite so they recommended both: The Christmas Story and Prancer.
If you are still needing recommendations on what to watch, we found this list ranking the worst to the best holiday shows currently on the Hallmark channel as well as this list of the top 35 holiday shows on Netflix.
In addition to the typical streaming sites, many local theaters and dance companies are reaching out to audiences virtually. If your holiday tradition is to go see the Nutcracker, you do not have to miss out as the New Paltz Ballet Theatre is hosting a free showing of The Nutcracker. Their video premieres on December 24th at 6pm CST and will be available through January 1st.
