Artist Statement: Kristel Becares is a Filipino illustrator and graphic novelist living in Chicago, IL. Her work is influenced by manga, mythology & folklore, fashion & costume design, music, and history; but above all, she is driven by her love of storytelling. The Pixie Girl series is an ongoing body of work that encapsulates everything I love about girlhood unabashed. They’re bratty, they’re sassy, and they’re as emotional as they are fashionable. It’s their world, and we’re just living in it.
