Project Statement: This image is a snapshot of some leaves and branches in the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee; I created a digital negative from the digital photograph and then printed it as a cyanotype onto green cotton fabric (4"x4"). This print is from a personal project, a series of similar prints (both cyanotype and van dyke brown) on various colors of cotton fabric.
Artist Statement: Ren Andujar is currently working towards a photography BA at Columbia College Chicago. His work as a visual artist has integral themes of connection and vulnerability, specifically within Transgender and Queer communities. He utilizes collage, both digital and physical, as well as experimental darkroom processes to create works which honor identity and relationships to one’s self, community, and/or environment.
