Artist Statement: Hi! My name is Kara Dominique Garcia, I’m a Filipina living in the suburbs of Chicago! I’m in the BFA program for Traditional Animation as well as minoring in Illustration; My designs and concepts come from personal experiences, aesthetics, and inspirations from the world around me! These ideas that fuel my content flow through the works of animating scenes or creating visual narratives. These are stories I express in hopes of giving the world back the inspiration it gave me. The sketchbooks I carry tend to hold a lot of my doodles, concepts, drafts and maybe even finished work through the mix medium format. With the love of using different mediums from traditional to digital- Gouache, Watercolor, Inks, Adobe suite, Clip studio paint and procreate, I do my best to make the art I can in hopes of finding my artistic voice! Recently, I’ve been trying to find my voice past the narration and through the visual elements of fun design! Stickers, buttons, fanart , I have a lot of fun making these and I’m really excited to share these designs with you all! I hope to make an impact and grow in my own work and be a part of a wonderful community of artists who share the same passions as I do !! :)
