Artist Statement:
Shane Tolentino is a Chicago-based illustrator inspired by Midwestern forest preserves, environmental issues, and medical diagrams of the human body. She is currently pursuing her BFA in Illustration at Columbia College Chicago along with a minor in Environmental Studies.
Influenced by her strong love of science, Shane is interested in topics of different kinds of human impact on the planet. She explores concepts of life, death, decay, and renewal through visual imagery of animals, parts of the human body, and/or different kinds of flora. Her interests outside of her artistic practice include listening to melodic metalcore, visiting local plant conservatories, and casually collecting rocks.
